Indian-American astronaut **Sunita Williams**, one of NASA’s most celebrated space explorers, has always carried her Indian heritage with pride, even in the vastness of space. During an interaction, when asked **“How does India look from space?”**, her response was as poetic as it was profound—a beautiful reflection of her emotional connection to her roots and the breathtaking view from orbit.

Williams, who has spent over **322 days in space** across two missions, described seeing India from the International Space Station (ISS) as an **“amazing and emotional”** experience. One of the most striking sights, she noted, was the **glowing outline of India at night**, with clusters of city lights marking its bustling urban centers. She particularly mentioned the **northern plains and the Ganges River**, which are visible as a vibrant, life-sustaining network from orbit.  

"It’s Like a Beautiful Painting"**

*“You can see the entire country in one glance—the mountains, the rivers, the cities. It makes you realize how connected everything is.”*
